My understanding of the qualifications desired in an Art Director or Graphic Designer include substantial experience in design,
technical and creative design excellence, multiple task and deadline management skills, production direction, and the overall
ability to communicate, sell ideas, and get things done. I’m a strong candidate in all of these areas; I’ll outline why:

_ Graphic Design - More than 7 years experience in television graphic design, both on-line and post-production, for CNN, CNNI, and CNNSI.
Four and 1/2 years designing and implementing all CNN Sports graphics and animation’s. Design and upkeep of CNN Graphics Intranet Web Site.

_ Technical and creative excellence - Responsible for designing, managing, and art direction off-line still and animated graphics for CNN and CNNI.
Extensive knowledge of programs and equipment critical to production of cutting edge, professional design, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,
Quark Express, Liberty Paintbox, and working knowledge of After Effects and Premiere and Macromedia Flash. Shopped for programs and equipment for department,
increasing quality of design.

_ Deadline management - Independent project management for weekly and daily shows. Frequent responsibility for breaking news and specials, requiring creation
under severe deadlines, and flexibility to continue to manage regular assigned projects. Generally managing 2-4 projects, often chosen to handle ad-hoc needs.

_ In/Out of house direction - Graphics consulting and art direction, encompassing music selection and set design for departments as requested by in and
out-of-house producers. At Deco Neon, managed all operational aspects including job costing estimation.

_ Communication/management - Responsible for collaborative meetings between designers, producers, art directors, and editors, to ensure quality product.
Trained 30+ artists on CNN sports and news shows; trained co-workers on Adobe Photoshop.  Provide ad-hoc Mac consulting for department.  Proven “sell-in” of ideas;
frequently chosen for last-minute deadline projects with little or no direction from producer.

- Responsibility / organization - Recently started my own business, BrownDog Graphics.
Goals for BrownDog include providing companies with an alternative to big design houses for last minute and quick turnaround web and logo projects. I will also offer
broadcast and video animation in the future. Most recent clients include TransGlobal Assoc., Inc., CenTani Group, Cox Communications and Frank O. Battle Home Designers.

A further sampling of my clients outside of CNN include The Fox Theater, The Atlanta History Center, Heritage Row Museum, Underground Atlanta, the Georgian Terrace,
MARTA, and Clarke Atlanta University. I have had further success as an artist, showing works in local galleries. I feel that both of these parts of my career outside of
CNN demonstrate my interest and commitment to design.

I would like the opportunity to advance my career and skills, and to expand my limits. I can provide someone with a creative, resourceful, art director or senior graphic designer,
able to contribute to continued success at their company. I appreciate your assistance, and look forward to talking to you in person.
